OKLAHOMA CITY- On Friday night in Oklahoma City, the Evangels (4-11, 3-6 SAC) upset the Cavaliers (14-7, 4-4 SAC) in four sets. MACU came out firing on all cylinders as they took down the Cavs 25-19 in the first set. St Gregory's fought back in the second set to win 25-22, but the Cavs weren't able to keep it up as the Evangels took the final two sets.
MACU performed well on offense as they hit for a .225 team attack percentage in the match, while the Cavs only hit for a .106 team attack percentage. Besides from the lopsided attack percentages, the rest of the matches stats were pretty simular.
Gabby Ware (JR/San Antonio, Texas) and Kayrin Wells (SR/Mansfield, Texas) each recorded 8 kills in the match, to leads the Cavs offensive attack. Courtney Murphy (SR/Tulsa, Okla.) and Krystal Lopez (SR/El Paso, Texas) each added 7 terminations a piece in the match. Along with Murphy's 7 kills, she also recorded a match-high 5 block assists at the net. Sarah Ahrens (JR/Wichita Falls, Texas) led SGU in assists with 18, and Sunny Clark (JR/Dublin, Texas) followed close behind with 15 assists. Although the Cavs lost, Sunny Clark continued to serve strong, adding four more aces to her season total, to give her 55 aces on the season. Kayley Davis (SO/Irving, Texas) performed well on defense by recording a match-high 19 digs on defense.
The Cavs will be back in action tomorrow, Oct. 7, in Chickasha against USAO at 2 PM.
