WICHITA, Kan.- The Cavaliers men and women's track and fields teams competed at the Wichita State University Open Meet on Fri., May 5, and the highlight of the meet was Teresa Ambuul (FR/Colorado Springs, Colo.) qualifying for the national championships, that'll take place in Gulf Shores, Ala. later this month. Ambuul qualified in the women's 400 meter hurdles, a race that she finished second in on Friday, with a time of 1:03.88. St. Gregory's women's 4x100 relay team consisting of Taylor Woodard, Teresa Ambuul, Jackie Lara (FR/Laverne, Okla.), and Jasmine Mason (FR/Del City, Okla.), won their race and set a new personal record, with a time of 49.31, edging out Wichita State University's team by eight hundredths of a second. Sophia Weisbruch (SO/Temple, Texas) set a new personal record in the 800 meter race with a time of 2:24.83. Jasmine Exum (FR/Edmond, Okla.) set a new season best, in the women's long jump, by reaching 5.01 meters.
On the men's side, Robert Torres finished his senior season on a high point, by winning the 1500 meter race, with a time of 4:04.98, which was a season best.
The men and women's track and field teams will be back in action on Fri., May 12, when they sting of compete at the MSSU Last Chance Meet in Joplin, Mo.
