OKLAHOMA CITY- On Saturday, in Oklahoma City the Cavaliers (27-15, 18-10 SAC) fought hard against No. 1 Oklahoma City University, but the Stars were just too much to handle in the SAC Championship game. The Stars went on to win the championship game 7-0 over the Cavs, and they will head to the national championship tournament as the undeniable favorite to win the national title. The Cavs will now have to hope for an at-large bid to make it into the national tournament later this month.

The Stars grabbed their first lead in the third inning, when they scored two runs. No. 1 OCU scored two more runs in the fifth, and then added three more runs in the sixth to put away SGU.

Bryn Houlton (JR/Savanna, Okla.) was handed the loss in her 5 2/3 innings pitched, and Chula Chavez (JR/Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) pitched the last 1 1/3 innings of the game in releif for the Cavs.

Baylee Hughes (FR/Brighton, Ill.) led the Cavaliers at the plate by going 2-3 against the nation's top pitching staff. Sutv Meely (SR/Tecumseh, Okla.) and Ashli Hafford (JR/Blanchard, Okla.) each added one hit a piece for St. Gregory's as well.

The SAC Championship game may be the season finale for the Cavs unless they receive the at-large bid for the national tournament, since they weren't an automatic qualifier.
