FORT WORTH, Texas- On Thursday evening, No. 12 Texas Wesleyan (30-11, 11-5 SAC) used a 6 run eighth inning to take down the Cavaliers (25-14, 9-6 SAC) by a final score of 11-6. 

The Rams grabbed an early 2-0 lead in the second inning, but the Cavs cut the deficit to 2-1 in the top of the third. TWU extended their lead back to two in the bottom of the third, before the Cavaliers took a 4-3 lead in the top of the fourth. Texas Wesleyan quickly tied the game at four in the bottom half o fthe fourth, and then extended the lead to 5-4 in the fifth inning. The Cavs took back the lead and made the score 6-5 in the top of the seventh on a two-RBI double from Armando Fajardo (JR/San Mateo, Calif.). In the bottom of the eighth inning the Rams rallied for 6 runs, four of which came on a Kiki Menendez grand-slam, which put a dagger in the Cavs hopes of an upset win. 

 Clay Doyle (SO/Kiowa, Okla.) started on the mound for St. Gregory's, and went the first 3 2/3 innings, before Grant Schamburg (JR/Weatherford, Okla.) came into the game. Schamburg was handed just his second loss of the season (5-2), during his 3 1/3 innings on the bump. Cameron Wood (JR/Moore, Okla.) and Troy Little (SO/Broken Arrow, Okla.) combined to pitch the eighth inning for SGU.

Jordan Martin (SR/Moore, Okla.) and Adrian Soltero (SR/Oklahoma City, Okla.) each collected two hits in the loss, and Armando Fajardo collected one hit and two RBI's. Connor McCoy (FR) and Layton Moore (SO/Jones, Okla.) each added one hit a piece in the series opener. 

The Rams and the Cavs will play a double-header tomorrow (Friday, April 14) starting at noon, in Fort Worth, Texas.
