HILLSBORO- On Friday and Saturday, the Cavaliers swim team competed at the Great Plains Collegiate Invitational in Hillsboro, Kan., and the team was very successful. Jason Schroeder (SR/Anthony, Kan.) stole the show though.Schroeder finished in first place in 5 of the 6 races that he competed in. He won the 50 yard freestyle in 21.50, he won the 100 yard butterfly with a school record time of 50.75, and he also won the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 47.86. Schroeder was a the anchor of the 200 yard freestyle relay team, which finished first in 1:33.70, and he anchored the 400 yard medley relay team, which finished in first place in 3:51.00. The men's 200 yard freestyle relay team consisted of Charles Espinoia, Austin Cody (SR/Norman, Okla.), Jeffrey Trout (SO/Kingfisher, Okla.), and Jason Schroeder. The 400 yard medley relay team consisted of Charles Espinoia, Austin CodyMichael Heon (JR/Shawnee, Okla.), and Jason Schroeder. Schroeder and the team made the national A cut time in the 50 yard freestyle, 100 yard butterfly, 100 yard freestyle, 200 yard medley relay, 200 yard freestyle relay, 400 yard medley relay. SGU finished in second place in the 200 yard freestyle relay for both the men and women, and both teams alro finished with a national A cut time. Austin Cody finished second in the men's 200 yard individual medley, with a time of 2:06.83. Madison York (SO/Kingfisher, Okla.) finished fourth in the women's 50 yard freestyle, with a time of 26.54, and Kaitlin Hampton (SR/Shawnee, Okla.) finished in sixth place. Charles Espinoia finished sixth in the men's 50 yard freestyle with a time of 23.77. The team of Alexis Perry, Kaelyn Carter (SO/Guymon, Okla.), Madison York, and Kaitlin Hampton finished in second place in the women's 200 yard medley relay, with a national A cut time of 2:04.39. In the women's 100 yard butterfly, Kaelyn Carter finished in second with a time of 107.71, and Madison York finished in third with a time of 108.03. Austin Cody finished second in the men's 100 yard backstroke, with a national B cut time of 1:01.64. Alexis Perry finished in second place in the women's 100 yard backstroke, with a time of 1:07.05. Charles Espinioa won the men's 100 yard backstroke, with a time of 57.78. Austin Cody finished in second place in the men's 200 yard breaststroke, with a time of 2:18.31. Kaelyn Carter won the women's 200 yard butterfly. SGU team of Madison York, Alexis Perry, Kaelyn Carter, and Kaitlin Hampton finished second in the women's 400 yard freestyle relay, with a time of 4:25.67. The team of Austin CodyJeffrey Trout, Charles Espinioa, and Jason Schroeder finished in second place in the men's 400 yard freestyle relay, with a time of 3:29.19. 

The Cavs will be back in action on March 1, for the first day of compitition at nationals, which are being held in Columbus, Ga.
