PITTSBURG- On Friday and Saturday the Cavaliers' track teams were at the Indoor Gorilla Classic, on the campus of Pittsburg State University, in Pittsburg, Kan. As a team, the Cavs set three new school records over the weekend, three new personal records were set and one athlete qualified for nationals.
On the women's side, Teresa Ambuul (FR/Colorado Springs, Colo.) qualified for nationals in the 600 yard dash, and she finished in fourth place at the meet. She ran the race in 1:29.36. Sabrina DeSantiago (JR/Lubbock, Texas) finished in eighth place in the 600, with a time of 1:30.58. Jasmine Mason (FR/Del City, Okla.) set a new personal record, and set a new school record in the 60 meter dash, with a time of 7.97. Jasmine Exum (FR/Edmond, Okla.) set a school record in the 60 meter hurdles while running at Missouri Southern. Exum finished the 60 meter hurdles in only 9.57 seconds! The women's 4x400 team set a new school record with a time of 4:07. The 4x400 team consisted of Megan Cervantes (FR/Brownsville, Texas), Sabrina DeSantiago, Teresa Ambuul, and Jasmine Mason.
On the men's side, Demetrius Jones set a new personal record in the 60 meter dash. Christian Arbuthnot set a new personal record in the mile.
The Cavs will be back in action on Feb. 17 in Manhattan, Kan. at the Steve Miller Open.
