PLAINVIEW- On Saturday afternoon, the Cavaliers (2-19, 0-14 SAC) were defeated by the No. 16 Flying Queens, by a final score of 47-90. Wayland Baptist came into the game having won 16 of their last 17 games, and they are one of the highest scoring offenses in the nation. The Flying Queens were able to get ahead early, and they never let go of their lead. WBU plays with a very unselfish, team-orriented game plan, and this showed by them having 5 players score in double figures, they had 20 assists as a team, and they out-rebounded SGU 56-31. St. Gregory's was held to only 29.8 percent shooting from the field. However, the Cavaliers had 10 players score in the game.
Shanques Garrett (SR/Tulsa, Okla.) scored 8 points, grabbed 7 rebounds, dished out 3 assists, and blocked 2 shots for the Cavaliers. Kelsie Howgard (JR/Menifee, Calif.) scored a team-high, 9 points. Lauren Godbold (FR/Arlington, Texas) scored 8 points and had 4 rebounds, and Danielle Butler (SR/Ft. Worth, Texas) scored 7 points.
The Cavaliers will be back in action on Thursday, Feb. 16, when they play at Texas Wesleyan University at 6 PM.
