SHAWNEE – Three St. Gregory's cross country athletes earned league honors with solid performances Saturday at the Sooner Athletic Conference Championship meet. The event was hosted at Shawnee's Gordon Cooper Technology Center.
Sabrina DeSantiago, Alexis Gee and Robert Torres all posted top 15 finishes to garner All-SAC status. DeSantiago and Torres put themselves into position to be considered for a nationals berth. They will officially learn their fates Monday.
As a team, the women finished fourth overall with a program best-time of 1:40:20.
DeSantiago posted a time of 19:08 to finish 12th out of 66 runners. Gee came in 15th with a personal-record 19:16. Teresa Ambuul's 20:16 got her into the top 20.
Alexas Vargas (20:48, 28th) and Cathy DelReal (20:51, 30th) placed in the top 30, while Kathleen Joyce was 41st with a time of 21:52. Sophia Weisbruch came in a 22:06 to finish 42nd.
Rounding out the times for the women's team were Adrianna Garza (23:24, 50th), Zyanne Baxter (25:36, 59th) and Darian Hargis (26:02, 60th).
The men came in seventh with a combined 2:24:54, led by Torres' 26:24 (13th). It was the senior's second-best personal time. Jose DeOchoa did set a personal-best, coming in at 28:00 to finish 32nd overall.
Blake Crouch was third among his teammates with a time of 29:17 (46th), while Matt Leedy came in 54th at 30:03. Julian Gomez (31:09) and Luis Lopez (31:57) both broke the top 65, while Kris Parker posted a time of 32:30 to finish 66th.
