SHAWNEE – Guadalupe Leyva's golden goal in overtime propelled Wayland Baptist to a 1-0 win over St. Gregory's Tuesday afternoon at Fr. Victor Roberts Field. The Pioneers won for the third time in four contests, while the Cavaliers have dropped three of four.

Leyva ended the scoreless deadlock just two minutes into the extra frame, netting the game-winner just beyond the reach of a diving Mallory Adams into the right side of the net. It was her second goal of the season.

WBU (3-5-2, 2-1 SAC) outshot the home team 18-9 – including a 10-5 edge in the second half and overtime. The Cavaliers put four shots on goal with Araceli Flores leading the way at two on-target attempts.

Jena Flewelling and Adams combined for five saves.

St. Gregory's (5-5, 1-2 SAC) travels to John Brown (Ark.) Saturday. Game time is set for 1 p.m. in Siloam Springs.
